Joyce Rangel, 83, born June 30, 1925 in Springfield, MA; died December 22, 2008 in Phoenix, AZ. Joyce is survived by sons James T. Priest Sandy and Michael S. Priest Portia and Granddaughters Susan Jackson Brian, Jamie Lutz Jason, great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Tanner Jackson and Hailie and James Lutz. She has 11 brothers and sisters. She was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U. S. Army. She loved dancing and was a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club. A Graveside Service will be held at 9:30 AM, Friday, December 26, 2008 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. Ella Mae Bleier

Ella Mae Bleier 89, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, December 22, 2008. Ella Mae, a dear and blessed mother, grandmother, and friend was a kind, giving angel on earth who now joyfully resides with the Lord and heaven’s angels. We take solace, but shall miss her laughter, valuable guidance, and her genuine love of faith, family and friends! Born May 28, 1919 in Wymore, Nebraska, Ella Mae and her beloved husband Eddie moved to Arizona in 1952. They continued to raise their family of five children with much love and prayer. Ella Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, son Michael, daughter, Betty, and brother, William McNown. She is survived by daughter, Patty Aker Tom; sons: Bill Bleier, Paul Bleier; grandchildren: Rod Medrano, Eric Bleier, and Sheila Bleier; great grandchildren: Shelby Medrano, and Jake Medrano; sister-in-law, Elaine McNown; niece, Carolyn Johnson; and nephew, Kevin McNown Min. Ella Mae, a dedicated Catholic, was very active at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She was a member and past Prefect of Sodality. Ella Mae was an avid reader, loved to entertain, grow flowers, say prayers for others in need, and most of all spend time with her loving family. Ella Mae had a special devotion for the unborn. She diligently kept a prayful vigil for all women who were considering adoption as an option. Her constant prayer for birth mother’s showed her deep love as a woman and as a mother herself. Ella Mae lived her life with grace and dignity and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Visitation/Celebration of Life from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with Scripture/Rosary Service beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix AZ. A Funeral Mass for Ella Mae will be held Monday, December 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2312 E. Campbell Ave, Phoenix AZ, with graveside services immediately following at St. Francis Cemetery, 48th St. and Oak, Phoenix AZ. Hugh M Campbell

Campbell, Hugh Martin passed away on December 18, 2008 at age 84. Born and raised in Montana, Hugh enlisted in the US Navy after completing high school, and served in the Pacific Theater during WW II. After his honorable discharge, Hugh returned to Missoula, received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana, and married his life partner, Joyce. Hugh worked in the retail clothing business until joining Wagner Furniture as a salesman. In the early 1960s, Hugh opened Campbell Furniture where he stayed until he and Joyce decided to locate in Phoenix in August 1968. Hugh, and his brother, Bill, worked together at Standard Printing Co., until opening Campbell Printed Communications from which Hugh retired. An avid Notre Dame and ASU fan, Hugh seldom passed up an opportunity to see the Irish or Sun Devils play football and baseball. Hugh also enjoyed fly fishing, a good book, and spending time with his family. Hugh is survived by his children Marty wife Patty, Noni, and Cathy husband Mark; grandchildren Dan wife Shannon, Merritt and Alexis Campbell, Spencer and KJ Larson, Philip and Monica Germann, and great grandkids Peyton and Abby Campbell. We will celebrate Hugh’s life with a Mass at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 24th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 2021 S. Rural Road, Tempe, 85282, followed by a Committal Service at St. Francis Catholic Cemetary 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix 85008.


Francis Kevin Flynn

Francis Kevin Flynn passed away on Dec. 18th. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Barbara Jo, his four children Kevin, Laura, Evette, Brien three grandchildren Kiersten, Makenna, and Elijah and his two sisters, Peggy and Ita. Frank was a native Phoenician, loved Arizona and his friends who lived here. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School with scholarships to several colleges. Attended and played football at Loyola University, and was called by his country to spend two years at Fort Ord serving on the first Army football team in 1951. He returned to Phoenix, and married his beloved wife “Ginger” the mother of his four children. Frank will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Mass and a celebration will be held on Monday, Dec. 29th at Saint Mary’s Basilica, 231 N. 3rd St., Phoenix, at 10:30am.

Survived by his five children, Denise Nunez, Lisa Lungaretti, Ed, Annette, and Carlos Diaz, six grandchildren, great grandfather Facundo Rosas, Aunt Marj and Uncle Lash, two brothers Michael and Albert and one sister Cynthia and companion Mary. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 21st 6-8 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Whitney and Murphy 4800 E. Indian School Road. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 22nd at 10 am at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church 3424 N. 18th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ. Interment immediately following funeral service at St. Francis Cemetery 2033 N 48th St, Phoenix.

Helen Anne Mitchell, age 97,
passed away on the morning of December 17, 2008. She passed away peacefully, sitting in her chair at Olive Grove Assisted Living. Helen was born March 10, 1911 in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Phoenix in 1972 after losing her husband, Anton. As a romantic, she stayed true to her husband’s memory. As a homemaker, she was famous for her un-birthday gifts, Polish cooking, unstinted family support and for growing volleyball-sized lemons and grapefruits. She graced this earth with a heart of gold, class, dignity and sophistication. She is survived by her daughter Connie Mitchell, 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Two of her children, Barbara Gronek and Angela Wanielista predeceased her. Thank you to the warm and caring family she made at Olive Grove, who took wonderful care of her during her stay. God bless. Gloria O. Cordova a Phoenix native passed away on December 13, 2008 at the age of 83. Preceded by her husband The Honorable Valdemar A. Cordova. She is survived by her children Ken Cordova, Valerie John Susie and Lexia Jim Lugo, grandchildren Madison, Aja Lugo and Leslie Susie, brother Ralph Orduno and sister Julie Orduno. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00pm, with a Rosary at 7:00pm, Thursday, December 18 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road. Funeral Mass will be Friday, December 19 at 10:00am, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Road. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
