Mary Ellen Butler

Mary Ellen Butler entered into her heavenly Father’s Arms on April 25, 2009. She was born November 21, 1911 in Oxly, Missouri. She received her teaching degree from Mt. St. Clare and her Masters Degree in Education from University of San Diego, CA. She will be remembered for her passion for teaching, devotion to family, and service to God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Butler, and son, Barry Butler, as well as her parents and seven siblings. She is survived by her siblings Leo Ryan, Margarette Peg Crain, and Cecil Ryan, as well as dozens of nieces and nephews. Her niece, Linda Schlenker, nephew Brent Schlenker, and their children Emma, Matthew and Grace were blessed to share their home with Mary Ellen the last year of her life. Matthew 25:23 “well done, good and faithful servant.” A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, May 1, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2312 E, Campbell Ave. Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phx 85014.
