J. Patrick “Pat” Dugan, 72, died peacefully at his home on November 27, 2008 in the loving care of his family. Pat made the world a better place for having been in it. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on October 8, 1936, graduated from Cathedral High School, and then earned a BS in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame in 1958. He became a CPA, moving to New York City with Price Waterhouse. There he met his wife of 41 years, Carmen. Pat then worked as Treasurer for the 1968 Nixon Presidential Campaign. He was appointed CFO of Export Import Bank and they moved to Washington DC in 1969. In 1975, they moved to New York where Pat was CFO at Warner Communications. Pat and Carmen settled in Phoenix in 1982, where he held several CFO or CEO positions. He loved the desert, the sunsets and the proximity to the San Diego beaches. He served on several Fiesta Bowl Committees and was president of the Notre Dame Club of Phoenix. Pat was given the University of Notre Dame Award of the Year by the club in 1989 and he remained active in the club. This past spring he attended his 50th college reunion at his beloved alma mater. He is survived by his wife Carmen, their daughters Danielle John Kenney and Nicole Philip May, and three wonderful grandchildren, Caitlin, Sean, and Sara. There will be visitation at Whitney &Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd, on Thursday December 4 from 6-8pm. There will be a Memorial Mass on Friday December 5 at Brophy Chapel, 4701 N. Central Ave, at 3pm. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or the Notre Dame Club of Phoenix.
