Ruth Esther Herwehe

Ruth E. Herwehe, 85, of Phoenix, AZ passed away March 22, 2009. Ruth went home to be with the Lord and Savior. Born in Iowa City, IA, June 18, 1923, daughter of William and Pearl B. Holst. Ruth served in the U.S.Navy during WWII relocating to Phoenix during that time, Ruth worked for the City of Phoenix, U.S. Postal Service and loved to garden and paint. Ruth raised four children, two sons and two daughters. Her husband, John B. Herwehe, daughter-in-law Lisa B. Herwehe and son John William “Johnny Bill” Herwehe preceded Ruth in death. She is survived by her living children Joneen Wayne Chatfield, Terri Gannaway, Mark Linda Herwehe and grandchildren, Gene Propst and Johnathan Brittney Jean Chatfield. Graveside Service will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23019 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix with full military honors provided by Post 1, American Legion at 10:30 am, Thursday, April 2. The family wishes to thank Serenity Hospice for her care. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.
