Eleanor Reyes Abeytia

Eleanor Reyes Abeytia, 89, of Phoenix, passed away on October 9, 2012. She was born in Aguilar, Colorado on November 6, 1922 but lived most of her life in Phoenix. She retired from Thompson Industries and the Dart Corporation. Eleanor was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 41, serving as Past District 1 President of the Department of Arizona American Legion Auxiliary, Past President American Legion Auxiliary Post 41, and held numerous other offices with the auxiliary, she was a member of La Societe Des 8 Chapeau et 40 Femmes . She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Pedro F. Abeytia and son Benito Reyes Abeytia. She is survived by her children, Rita Brock-Perini, Josie Quinby (John), Cecelia Bushman (Marvin), Armida Maxey (Glenn), Margarita Loredo, Sylvia Whitman (Russ), Bernie Abeytia (Andrea), Belen Coffman (Larry), Barbara Abeytia Conrad (Tom), brothers Zeke Reyes, Florencio Reyes, and Tony Reyes, and 27 grandchildren, 63 great- grandchildren, 12 great, great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be all held on Friday, October 12, 2012 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1954 North 24 Street, Phoenix, AZ. Visitation 10 am, Rosary 10:30 am, and Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 41, 715 S. 2nd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85003.
