Juanita Mae Ackerman (nee Foy) slipped gently into the arms of her Lord on January 27, 2010 after a 6 week journey with Hospice of the Valley. Her husband, children and grandson Andrew were with her at her passing. She was born in Greenville, PA on February 3, 1923. Her parents, Carl and Helen, along with her younger sister, Betty, preceded her in death. She married Neil Ackerman on June 14, 1943. She loved her two children: Lita Marie Johnson (Curtis) and Matthew Robert Ackerman, her five grandchildren: Casey (Nicole) Goslin, Jennilee Goslin, Sarah Ackerman-Whitesell, Andrew and Timothy Johnson and her two great grandchildren: Zoey and Kaleb Goslin along with many nieces and nephews. Juanita worked at Talon Company after high school where she met her future husband, Neil. She became an at-home mother when Lita arrived. Neil and Juanita moved to Phoenix in July 1955 to help open up Layke, Inc., a tool and die shop. Matthew arrived soon afterwards. Juanita lovingly served in many capacities, all involving her children. She was always a Home Room mother (usually to two classes at once), served on the PTA and as a Bluebird and Campfire Girl leader and taught Sunday School at American Lutheran, Phoenix where they have been members since 1955. She loved to both sew and knit for her children and grandchildren. She was an ardent ASU fan with season tickets during the reign of Frank Kush. She enjoyed selling Avon products for a time and loved to go on cruises with Neil. A celebration of her life will be at American Lutheran Church, 1830 W. Glenrosa, Phoenix,AZ 85015, on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 10 A.M., with a reception immediately following in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. Please sign guest book at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com

I read the obituary of your dear loved one and wanted to give some encouraging words. It is difficult for others to completely understand your loss. I recently lost my dear Grandmother. What I found comforting was the words of God and Jesus recorded for us in the bible. God saw his only begotten son die on earth and it was very painful for him. Because He is the one who truly understands our loss, He has had written in the bible the encouraging future for our loved ones so we can get comfort. Notice Jesus words at John 5:28, 29 where he said; “…the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out…” Also, when our loved one is resurrected she has the hope of never dying again. Rev21:3,4. Sincerely, kaylin
