
Albert James Meaker passed away on April 9, 2009. Born April 3, 1922 in Auburn, NY to Ida Warner and Charles Griswold Meaker. After graduation from Randolf-Macon Academy, Rochester Institute of Technology, he joined the Army during WWII. He moved to Arizona with wife, Rosamond and son Thomas in l946. He worked for his father for one year and in l947 took over Meaker The Printer until his retirement in 1999. During this time, he was active in Toastmasters, Craftsman Club, and was 32nd degree Mason with El Zaribah. In l984 he received Craftsman of the Year Award. He was also active for years at the downtown YMCA as an Early Bird and enjoyed exercise and camaraderie with friends he had known for years. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marilyn and son Thomas Lorrie Meaker. Visitation will be 10:00 am -12:00 noon, with Funeral Service at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, April 14, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Downtown YMCA, 3510 N. 1st Avenue, Phoenix, 85003, or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, 85014.
