ARAAS, JOAN

February 23, 2019 2 Condolences

Joan Araas 2

Born on February 9, 1929, Joan Araas passed away peacefully on February 21, 2019 at the age of 90. Joan grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Casper, Wyoming as a young woman to work for Skelly Oil Company. There, she met the love of her life, Ken Araas, who preceded her in death in 1988. They were married and spent many happy years working together, as well as raising a family. She was a devout Catholic and always made time to help others, extend a warm smile, and a kind word. She created beautiful needlework, was an avid bridge player and enjoyed sports of all kinds. She enriched the life of all who were blessed to know her and we are so grateful to have shared her life. Joan is survived by her three children, Diane Thorn and husband Scott; David Araas and wife Patti; and Jim Araas and wife Susan; her four grandchildren, Chris Costantino, Mandy Araas, Mark Araas, and Kristin Hines (Stephen). Joan is also survived by her sister, Jean Chilton. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Ken Araas, second Husband, Dan Price, her mother and father, sister Marilyn Molloy, and brother Jim Molloy. A Visitation will begin at 2 P.M., followed by a Rosary at 2:30 P.M., and funeral Mass at 3 P.M. on Wednesday February 27, 2019 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church at the Franciscan Renewal Center 5802 E. Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix, 4309 E. Belleview St. Bldg 14, Phoenix, AZ 85008. My deepest condolences to all of you. Joan was a wonderful woman. She was so welcoming to Doug, myself, and the kids. We really appreciated being a part of your family for all of those years. Joan was also very supportive and loving to me during Doug’s illness. I will really miss her. Love to you all.

It is so sad to hear of Joan’s passing. She was a loving and bright addition to our family when she and our dad, Dan, were married. We had some fun times together with both families, too. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
