Amalia (Molly) Medina Arteaga

passed away on June 22, 2011. She was 89 years of age. Born on December 3, 1921, in Mesa, she spent her entire life in the Valley of the Sun. A completely dedicated wife and mother, her greatest joys revolved around her family. The oldest of 11 children, her early years were spent helping raise numerous brothers and sisters. She was a very patient and shy person who enjoyed the company of others, especially the company of her children and grandchildren. Molly was famous for her cooking, her crocheting, embroidery, and was especially proud of her flower garden. In her younger days, she loved to dance, especially with her husband and her sons. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Evangeline; her father and mother, Augustine and Maria Medina; her husband of over 60 years, Jesus; and brothers, Augustine, Alfonso, and Armando. She is survived by her loving daughter, Maria Dolores Arteaga; her sons and daughters-in-law, Ramon and Dolores Arteaga, Charlie and Judy Arteaga, John and Mary Anne Arteaga; granddaughters Rebecca Arteaga and Anita Arteaga; grandsons Christopher Arteaga and David Arteaga. She is also survived by her loving brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from 6:30-7:00pm, with a Rosary at 7:00pm, Monday, June 27, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road. Funeral Mass will be at 10am, Tuesday, June 28, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 909 E. Washington Street, Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Memorial Contributions in Molly’s name can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, 85014
