    Dear
    Dear Ashley Family,

I met Benny in 2017. I work at PSPRS and I was called up to the receptionist’s desk to notarize a document. It was Benny who came in to have a PSPRS document notarized. I noticed his birth day and mentioned to Benny that his birthday was the day after my mother’s birthday. Benny asked, when my mother was born. I said 1936 and Benny said that that was when he graduated from high school. I didn’t do the math until he left the office and I went back to my office and was finishing filling out my notary book and saw that he was born IN 1917! And I realized, it’s 2017!!! So, I’m sitting in my office and yell out, “OMG! HE’S GOING TO BE 100 THIS YEAR!!” So, I made a reminder in my work calendar to send to him a birthday card from PSPRS in August. In the card, I included a separate note telling him that I was sorry I didn’t realize when we were together that he was turning 100 that year. Otherwise, I’d have liked to have chatted with him longer. In September of 2017 he came back to the PSPRS office looking for me but unfortunately I was on vacation. Benny did end up coming back and myself and another co-worker Larry would sit with him and hear his stories about growing up in Phoenix, WWII and then of course we all learned about him being the father of PSPRS! We all enjoyed having Benny at PSPRS and visiting with him. Larry and I attended Benny’s funeral today. We’d hope to speak to family and tell them how blessed we were to have met and known Benny and so thankful for him for his work in creating the PSPRS but we had to leave and get back to work! 🙂 My sincere condolences. Benny was absolute charm.
