BARABE, JOSEPH RAYMOND

Joseph Barabe

JOSEPH RAYMOND BARABE was known by many as the “Pickle Man” aka Joe. He was born to Mary Agnes and Joseph J. Barabe on September 14, 1934. Joe was a lifelong resident of Phoenix AZ, passed on to join his wife Ramona in heaven on February 21, 2023.

Joe is survived by his children Danny, Jean, Joey, and Chris (Lupe); brothers Brian (Lynn) and Leo (Carolyn); sisters Marie Skala, Beth Baily, and Nancy Glemser (Jeff); grandchildren Gabriel Joseph, Matthew, Simoneque, Michael, Kevin, Danny Jr., Joseph Jr. Nicholas, and Lorissa; 11 Great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters.

Joe attended the U of A and earned a Degree in Business. He served in the US Army and earned an Honorable Discharge. Joe worked over 59 years in the Pickle business, he started working with his dad in the family business “Barabe Brothers Foods”. His working days ended when Covid came. Joe worked hard to provide well for his family. He loved the outdoors mainly fishing and telling stories.

Loved by all, Joe had a heart of gold and will truly be missed.

A visitation will be held from 9:00am-11:00am with rosary prayers at 10:30am and the funeral service to begin at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Condolences may be expressed at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com

    Our deepest condolences to the family. Joe Barabe was the kindest and gentlest man I knew. He was always helping us out and teaching us all we know about the pickle business. Joe Barabe we love you and you will be dearly missed. God bless you!
