Our beloved father, Charles John Beuerlein, Jr. “Charlie”, passed away peacefully in Hospice Care on February 24, 2023 at the age of 95. He is survived by his 12 children; Meg (Don), Cathy (Jim), Dotty (Tom), Chuck (Jane), Maryellen, Judy (Tom), Jim (Patty), Terri (Jim), Linda (Charlie), John (Wendy), Steve (Lori), Ed (Mariah), and 2 stepchildren; Tom & Debbie (Phil). In addition to his children, he is survived by more than 80 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Betty Beuerlein (spouse 1949-1986) and Joyce Beuerlein (spouse 1991-2005).
Charlie was born in Hillsdale, New Jersey on June 3, 1927. He spent his youth working on his father’s carnation farm. After a stint in the Navy during WWII, he met Betty Reis. They married in New Jersey in 1949 and moved to Phoenix, Arizona that same year to raise their family. Charlie loved sports and spent 25 years coaching Little League. He supported his large family by working as a union cement mason and eventually retired from the City of Phoenix. Betty passed in 1986 after a battle with cancer. Charlie and Betty were married for 37 years. In 1990, Charlie reconnected with childhood friend, Joyce Holstein, at a class reunion. Charlie and Joyce married in 1991 and were together for 14 years before her passing after battling ALS.
Charlie was a hard worker, a true gentleman and had a tremendous sense of humor throughout his life. He lived his life treating others with respect and grace and will always be remembered as a kind, caring, and giving man. He would always end his phone calls with “Bye for Now”. Therefore, it is fitting that we say, “Bye for Now, Dad!”
The funeral Mass will be held at Saint Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix at 10:00am on Thursday, March 2, 2023. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Charlie’s name to Hospice of the Valley, Arizona Cancer Center, or The ALS Association. Dear Chuck & John,
Laura & I are so sorry for the loss of your Father.
Your Father had a living impact on each of the Beuerlein family members, and you both took after your awesome Role Model, as every guy that played baseball with you guys were treated fairly & with class.
Well done good and faithful servant, and may The Lord be with all of your family during this sad time of transition.

Charlie was a great person. He always had a smile on his face and he had lots of interesting stories. What a lucky man to have lived a long life with a great family. We’ll miss him around the breakfast and dinner table when we visit. Rest in peace Charlie —love Zane Ann Julia and Emma
