BROOS, ARNOLD

January 18, 2023 7 Condolences

Arnold Broos Picture

May 6th, 1942 – January 10th, 2023

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Arnold Broos. Beloved husband of Betty (Merrick) for 39 years. Dear father of Krista Adams (Stephen), Michael and Anna Lisa. Grandfather of Clayton Adams. Stepfather to Shauna Drouin and Nicole Beharriel. Brother to Frank Broos and the late Johanna Rivers.
Arnold was born in Eindhoven, Netherlands, to Frank and Petronella (Vanderloo) Broos. He immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 6. He grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario where he worked as a welder and pipefitter for several local companies. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1985 where he and Betty owned and operated Accurate Plumbing until their retirement in 2019.

Arnold was a skilled tradesman and took great pride in his work. He most enjoyed using his skills to help friends and neighbors. Arnold’s was a life well lived. He worked hard and played hard. His favorite saying was: “I’m here for a good time, not a long time.”

A celebration of life will take place this summer. In lieu of flowers we request that you leave a story or memory you have of Arnold on his condolences page at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com

Arnold was indeed a man who willingly shared his skill and expertise in helping others! Together Betty and Arnold built their successful plumbing business which took much hard work! Arnold built an aviary in their backyard and enjoyed a variety of birds, especially his parrot Ruby! He took pride in his beautiful Historic Ford Falcon red convertible. Brother-in-law Arnold will be missed at family holidays and celebrations and we grieve at his passing!

Oh Arnold! I miss you so much! We were blessed to live a block away from you, Betty & Anna Lisa, and to carpool for school. What an amazingly kind, loving & funny guy you were. What a fantastic neighbor! Coming to my rescue often when I put too much stuff down my disposal — eek! Loved your aviary and I remember when you guys gave us a baby cockatiel, Paco. He lived 25 years and just died last year. Remember when you let me put a big lost turtle in your pond? We named him Jesus and put him in the pond by the zoo. Anna Lisa & Betty: We’re hugging and praying for you from California. Love travels through space & time to comfort you all on the loss of this great man. Kathy & David Bishop

I remember we went up to the dome in strawberry to help

One of my favorite memories was when we went up to the dome in strawberry to help assemble and install the covered porch! Arnold has mad skills and he had all the wood cut to the right angles and pieces just like a kit! No easy feat on a geodome building! And of course it wasn’t even like working we had so much fun hanging out, eating great food and sitting around the campfire laughing!

My first memory of Arnold is when I went for his wedding to my Aunt Betty! I wondered if we would get to hang out and I could learn how to ride his son’s dirt bike
Betty and Arnold have been a part of so many holiday gatherings growing up and it was so nice that they lived so close. I appreciated his common sense and sense of humor; and I try to channel him whenever I attempt home plumbing repairs.
God speed, Arnold. May all of our memories of you be an ongoing blessing in our lives!
