BROWN, SUMMER SHRELLE
Summer Shrelle Brown 25, passed away in her home on January 10, 2020. Our beloved angel was taken too soon following a year- long battle with cancer. Summer passed surrounded by the love of her family and dear friends.
Summer was born on August 19, 1994 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was an outstanding athlete from early childhood. She took dance and played softball from elementary school through her sophomore year in high school. It was during her junior year at Deer Valley High school that she found her love for track and field.
Summer went on to become a collegiate track and field star. She initially competed for Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix AZ, then on to South Plains Community College in Texas and finally at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida where she held the title of 2016 MEAC Indoor Pentathlon and 2016 Outdoor Long Jump champion. Summer was considered the “mama bear” of the track team; she took care of everyone and was adored. At Bethune, Summer also became a member of the Chapter of Sigma Alpha Pi National Society of Leadership and Success and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduating from college, she pursued her Esthetician license to fulfill her passion for wellness and beauty.
Summer was extremely proud of her accomplishments in College as well as her Esthetician certification but her greatest accomplishment came on February 23, 2017 when she gave birth to her son, Aycen. Summer loved being a Mother and often stated that Aycen gave her life true purpose.
Summer was compassionate, protective and caring with everyone around her. She was a free-spirit and followed her own beat through life. She had the amazing talent of impersonation and often impersonated those in her life and did it to a T! Her incredible sense of humor, endless sassiness and incredible presence made her larger than life. Her beauty was obvious but her beautiful soul truly shined above all.
Summer was always late, chewed her gum too loudly, and never wanted to fold her laundry but would quickly disarm you with a flash of her amazing smile which was always bathed in Chapstick. She loved her girl crew and spent hours talking with her girls late into the night. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. She loved listening to music, dancing, reading and working out.
Summer had a heart of a champion and that heart will live on through her son, Aycen and all those that were blessed with the incredible gift of knowing her.
Summer was preceded in death by her Grandmother Sandra Martinez, Grandmother Lula Brown and her Aunt Robbie Brown.
She is survived by her parents; Rene Neish and Kenneth Brown, her two-year-old son; Aycen Lewis and her siblings; Jalen Johnson, Zareq Brown and Beyonn Brown.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with an 11:00 AM service on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Vineyard Church North Phoenix, 6250 W. Peoria Ave., Glendale. Interment will take place at 2:00 PM at West Resthaven Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301.

I’m deeply saddened for your loss Rene and Kenny. I don’t even have the words to express the love and respect that I have in my heart for Summer and Aycen. She instantly became apart of my family the moment she walked into our home over 13 years ago. Her smile just instantly lit up the room. She was one of the most beautiful (inside and out) loving, caring and SELFLESS person that I’ve ever known. I’m just so blessed to have had her and Peanut be a HUGE part of my life. Summer was a huge support to my family and I during the last year of my husband’s battle with cancer and was there just days before he passed taking pictures with him. She loved my son unconditionally and proved it until the very end. The world was a better place with her in it, but God saw fit to call her to be with Him. She’s now with my husband Fonzo watching over us. I love you my sweet Summer Love. #GodsGotYou
We are so saddened for the loss to your family. While there are no words to heal the passing of your beautiful daughter, just know your family is in the thoughts and prayers of so many. May you find comfort in knowing heaven will shine brighter with such a beautiful soul to watch over you all. Our deepest sympathies are with all of you!
My condolences to Rene. Kenny and the Brown family. Summer your one if the strongest people I know. You’re such an inspiration to many. Your strength and will NOT to give up is inspiring. Thank you for the talk, I will cherish it forever. Thank you Rene and Kenny my heart goes out to you both. You two raised a beautiful intelligent young lady who fought heck of a fight. BLESSINGS to you all. Rest in Paradise Summer
I will always love you summer. You were a young and intelligent woman. May you Rest In Peace
Summer did something that most people in the world don’t do, show you who she was and what she stood for from the moment you met he. She showed that she was humble, grateful, loving, brave , strong, ambitious and a true leader. I have so many great memories with Summer when she took her love of track and field to next level at PVCC. It was amazing to witness her passion time and time again. Summer was constantly dancing, wherever she felt it was like dancing was her expression of just how happy she was. She was loud , soooo loud in the best way. You knew you were in a room with Summer because the whole room would be laughing. She spent a lot of time talking about her love for a rapper Dom Kennedy. I often thought Summer was going to find him one day and marry him. Summer would put on her baseball cap, big ol hoops. Lip gloss and that oh so signature thumb ring. During Summers life and battle with cancer you often saw her reaching out to people in need and lending words of encouragement. You would ask Summer how are you? She would quickly put it back on you to make sure you were good. One thing she could talk about for days was her son Aycen. Summer was selfless and loved so many people unconditionally. She touched so many peoples lives and will be missed.
Summer,
I love you so much. Thank you for those moments of laughter and for the growth you inspired me to have. I can never really express in words what you meant to me. I am just so thankful that no matter the distance or time between us you made me feel like it wasn’t even a factor. I miss you a lot Summer, but I know your faith was strong you fought hard and are now at peace.
Kenny,
May the beautiful memories of Summer sustain you and your family today and always.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Meeting you at the NJCAA in 2013 we clicked instantly. You was with Paradise Valley Community College and I was with South Plain College. We laughed and talked for a little on how we knew each other and found out about one another and as soon as you said that you wanted to come to SPC I did not hesitate, I immediately told my coach and that following year 2013 fall you were part of SPC Track Team. I miss you!! I keep thinking about the talks we had, arguments and becoming back friends, you coming home with me for Thanksgiving to Anahuac, Tx. Man that week was fun. There’s so much more memories but those stuck out to me the most. Everything you’ve ever told me and did for me, I will forever remember. Always and forever! I love you SumSum and the light you showed and gave will continue to shine through Acyen, your family, your other friends, and me. I LOVE YOU!
Summer will truly be missed. She was an amazing friend and such a joy to everyone she met. So thankful for the time we had with her . Praying for your family in this time.
Summer what a blessing you were to so many, always smiling, laughing and being there for others, God blessed us with one of His special angels to show us what love truly is and I know you are now in your heavenly home with our Lord. You will always be in our thoughts, hearts and wonderful memories, tucked safely in our hearts forever.

I feel so incredibly grateful that God allowed me to meet and know this beautiful soul during her time here on Earth. She was the brightest light in any room and was as kind as she was beautiful. Aycen is the sheer perfection she leaves to us all and her amazing spirit will live on through him. My sincere and heart-felt condolences go out to all of those who have known and loved Summer. What a glorious warrior – RIP sweet girl.
Christy
Love and hugs to Rene. I realize it’s been many years, but I have fond memories of you and Summer when our kids were in school together. Had no idea of her struggle, but what an amazing life she had, and seems she touched so many lives.
Love from Wendy and Monte
I’m honored to have had the opportunity to help take care of Summer. She was faced with a situation no one should ever have to face. Yet, she did so with an amazing courage and grace. Even in the toughest of times, I always looked forward to seeing Summer, knowing that she would be very real, refreshingly hopeful and determined, and always ready to share a laugh. My sincerest thoughts are with her family and friends.
We had the privilege of having Summer as one of our students at Elise Esthetics Institute. Summer unified and sympathized with others. She was strong, compassionate and a caring person. Her classmates embraced each other as one frequently massaged her leg that was in pain. We are so sad to hear of her passing. Prayers to the family, Aycen and all those who are mourning.
I met Summer at Cactus High School. A lot of High S hook memories I will hold dearly to my heart dearly. YOUR the strong one Summer and you will be missed . I send my prayers and condolences to her family and her handsome son. Love ya girly ❤️
