CANNING, LORETTA

January 2, 2015 32 Condolences

CANNING,

58, passed into Eternal Life on December 17th, 2014. Formerly of Richmond Hill, NY, and longtime resident of Phoenix, AZ she was the beloved daughter of the late James and Rose Canning, the sister and sister-in-law to 11 brothers and sisters and their spouses, cherished aunt to 22 nieces and nephews and a multitude of grand nieces and nephews. Loretta recently retired as a devoted high school teacher from North Canyon High School in Phoenix, and previously taught at Paradise Valley High School and St. Daniel the Prophet. She excelled in bringing out the best in her students. She was an astute observer of their needs, knowing who needed encouragement or greater challenge. She was passionate about her students, family and travel, and often combined them all on her educational trips to Europe and India. Loretta’s zest for life would light up a room and would engage anyone in conversation regardless of their stature, or lot in life. Her influence, care and concern were felt by many as she looked for opportunities to serve the less advantaged, seeking out those who seemed lonely or offering a quick hand to those struggling in any way. Loretta will be deeply missed by her family and friends. All services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Parish, 11300 N. 64th Street, Scottsdale: Visitation is Friday, January 9th, 2015 from 4-9 PM with a Rosary and prayer service at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, January 10th at 11 AM. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.

Loretta was an extraordinary teacher and friend. She was smart, witty and always thought out of the box. She respected her students and gave them 100+ all the time. Hopefully, they will experience the love and passion she had for each and every one of them. Her classes were always filled to the limit. She always had food in her cabinet for kids without funds or parents who could provide. She was a mother to so many people…..and her love for animals was unprecedented. She lived her life to the fullest and for that we should be thankful. She gave so much to her sisters and brothers who were in need. May those who took advantaqe of her be ashamed. She is deserving of our respect and love. May good keep her in his grace and loving arms. She raised the bar on
care and compassion. Let’s try to follow her example. May God bless her in eternity.

God blesses us with people such as Loretta and when they are gone their imprints are forever in our hearts. She was truly a good spirit and I believe we gained one heck of an angel to watch over us. She was taken too soon but God must have other plans for her. It’s a great reminder to never to anyone or anything for granted. Never leave anything unsaid. Always end your day or conversation with I love you. Because we are never promised a tomorrow. My deepest sympathy to all of the family. My love, thoughts and prayers are with you always.

It is never easy to lose one we love, but maybe a little harder when it comes more unexpectedly. Loretta had a passion for life, I remember seeing it from the time I was 15, and she made and did the best with her life. Big hearted and compassionate, she will be missed very much. May she find everlasting peace in our Lord Saviors arms. Xxxxx

My condolences go out to the family of Ms. Canning. You were the best teacher I have ever had. You taught history like no other teacher! You were smart and over all funny! You never let your students quit even when you were having a tough time with your own life. You put your students first. I love and miss you, I hope those angels have the same humor as you and make sure to tell them all your stories! Rest in Peace beautiful Angel.

I unfortunately met Loretta only once here in Utah but I shall never forget her. She made an impression on me. In reading the comments on Loretta it is evident she was a “willing servant” to anyone in need. it seems this is a Christlike trait in the Canning family!!!! What an example to others of how to love. Loretta left many behind but she has been lovingly received on the other side by those who love her and she is so very happy. Prayers have been given for her family. she is missed by her loved ones and you will be reunited one wonderful day is such a glorious truth and comfort.

My sincerest condolences to the Canning family.
I will as so many others miss her wonderful way of approaching life, her personal generosity in so many ways, and of course I am just going to miss her my forever friend. She no longer has to feel herself deteriorate or suffer along. Retta is at eternal peace now and I know she feels wonderful.

My condolences to the whole loving Canning family. I met Loretta on her visit to Utah a few years ago. I was only around her for a short time but she left a lasting impression. She had many beautiful traits and qualities as her sister, Pat—- so loving caring and giving. Wish I could have met the parents and rest of the family. My prayers are with you. God bless and comfort you.

Loretta and I have been close friends and cohorts at North Canyon High Schoolfor nearly 30 years. I loved her very much and was a friend always. She tried to make me a better person and always gave me the truth and lessons in life. Her generosity with me and my family was noteworthy. I feel pain and so alone without her. My caring attention is due for your family, as I have met all of you from time to time. She always wanted the best for all of us and from that we shared our lives. My condolences to the Canning clan.
