Expressions like “family owned business”, “truth in advertising” and “you get what you pay for” have taken a trip down the rabbit hole into oblivion in my opinion. But, spend 5 minutes with someone from Whitney and Murphy funeral home and you will be surprised to encounter old school integrity with kindness, empathy and a feeling of complete and total trust.
There is no hard sell, and there is no feeling of being taken advantage, to the contrary there is a feeling of being completely taken care of. Which is exactly what Shawn Murphy did for my sisters and me when we walked in his office today to make arrangements to lay our Mother to rest. He said “we want you to feel like it is our family taking care of yours.”
And that is exactly how my sisters and I felt when we finished making all the decisions. He said it was an honor for him to be taking care of our Mom. And he certainly acted like that from the first handshake to our last goodbye when he personally held the door open for us as we left. He spent more than 2 hours with us. He never took another phone call in our presence, he did not make us wait unnecessarily. He was competent, helpful and professional. A family business that truly cares about making a difficult time just a little bit easier.

The entire Whitney & Murphy staff, especially Anthony, were extremely compassionate, professional, and helpful with our mom’s funeral. From our very first phone call, Anthony treated our mom and family like we were first priority. The process was extra stressful because we live out of state. We had so many questions between ourselves and our brother and sister. Anthony got back to us immediately on every detail. He also knew the processes and time-tables of many churches and the cemetery, which made decision making easier. When we changed our minds several times on arrangements, Anthony and staff made those changes professionally and efficiently. Whitney & Murphy was truly there to help during a very sad and difficult time. Our sincerest thanks.
