92, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on June 4, 2016. He was born on December 22, 1923, the son of Gene and Noemie Cavallero of New York City. Gene was raised and educated in New York City and Italy. He apprenticed; learning the restaurant business in hotels in Europe. He joined his father in the operations, later becoming the sole owner of the famous Colony Restaurant, which catered to New York’s café society from 1920 until 1970. Gene moved with his wife Patricia to Arizona in 1977, opening and operating Raffles Restaurant in Scottsdale until he retired. He and Patricia were married for 56 years until her passing in 2007. Gene is survived by his sons, Gene III (Dee), Francis Patrick (Victoria), his daughter Catherine Oursler (Matthew) and grandchildren, Michael, J.P., Katie and Brian. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later time. Perpetual Mass cards may be sent to 3219 E. Camelback Rd., #210, Phoenix, AZ 85018, in lieu of other intentions.
