Barbara Joan Cesena (Compton) 83, passed on to heaven on August 31, 2016. She was born in Louisa, Kentucky and raised in Ashland, Kentucky. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Barbara was a retired secretary for the Phoenix Union High School District. Her favorite hobby was tole and fine art painting. She passed most of her beautiful artwork on to her family. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred Cesena Jr. She is survived by five daughters – Deborah Stathas (Harry), Kathryn Campbell (Mike), Patricia Soffel (Mark), Diana Romero (Marc), and Michelle Cesena as well as 15 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent in memory of Barbara Cesena to Huger Mercy Living Center, 2345 W. Orangewood Dr., Phoenix, AZ 85021 or the Alzheimer’s Association – www.alz.org. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ. A Funeral Mass in celebration of her life will be at 10:00 am, Friday, September 9, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ.
