COLLINS, FLOYD ROBERT

March 6, 2022 Leave A Condolence

Floyd Collins 2

Floyd Robert Collins, better known as Bob, Bobby, Pop, Gramps, and Uncle Cob, born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, passed away surrounded by his family at the age of 84 on March 3, 2022.

Bobby was born in Phoenix on July 26, 1937 to parents Floyd and Millie. He attended St. Francis Elementary School and St. Mary’s High School before marrying his beloved wife Mary. Together, they started a family, which remained strong for the last 64 years.

Bobby worked for Arizona Public Service (APS) for 37 years doing field service and troubleshooting in the natural gas department. He served his country in the Army Reserves during his early years. After retiring from APS, he spent his time caring for his family. He enjoyed time outdoors playing golf and tennis, hunting, fishing and spending time at the beach. He was always active and built his and our dream house on a beautiful plot of land in the foothills of Cave Creek, surrounded by Spur Cross to the north and Black Mountain to the south. He was a true “do it yourselfer,” and we cannot look around our home without seeing something that he created, restored, or brought back to life. What he accomplished through his dedication and devotion to his family was nothing short of remarkable, and he freely gave his heart and soul to all the people he loved. It’ll be his “long story short” stories (that were really “short stories long”) that we will miss the most. Thank you to our Dad, our Gramps, our Pops, our Uncle Cob, for making us a part of your “long story short.”

Bobby is survived by his wife Mary, his 3 children and their spouses, Cari (Albert), Greg (Maria), and Taryn (Charlie), his 7 grandchildren, Chaz, Kayla, Chelsea, Carly, Conor, Jax, and Cade, and 6 great grandchildren, Kaia, Kellen, Cruz, Cash, Finn, and Kohl. Also, being one of 6 children, he is survived by his brother Rick, and his sisters Gayle, Kathy and Jan. He will continue to be remembered by so many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents Millie and Floyd, and sister Diane.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 7, 2022 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 32648 N. Cave Creek Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Mayo Clinic Nonprofit Organization, www.philanthropy.mayoclinic.org/donatemc.
