CONNORS JR, “JAKE” JOHN B.

September 16, 2022 9 Condolences

Jake John B Connors Jr

“Jake” John B. Connors Jr., passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2022, in Sun Lakes, Arizona with his wife, Beverly, and son, Matt, by his side. Jake helped establish Little League in Kingsport, TN and he also coached teams in soccer, baseball and basketball. Over the years, he was a true mentor and friend to many kids in the Colonial Heights area . Jake was a passionate golfer, friend to many people around the world and a guy that truly loved a “Good Time”. He was known for his kindness and generosity, active in the Catholic Church by chairing fund raising golf tournaments and feeding the homeless. In the last few years, his favorite activity was with his group of guy friends, the Romeos (really old men eating out someday).

Mass will be celebrated in honor of John’s life at St. Mary’s Basilica, 231 N. 3rd Street in Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. He will be interned at a later date at the V.A. National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to St. Mary’s Basilica Patronato Foundation. http://stmaryspatronato.org

Truly one of the most welcoming and genuinely nice men that I’ve ever had the pleasure to know! I always remember him with a smile on his face even when we trashed his yard in a spirited and rainy BYFA game. Having lost my dad years before knowing Mr C, I always looked up to him. Just one of the kindest hearts. He’s gone on to a better place but will never be forgotten!

My thoughts and prayers are with Beverly and Matt. Jake was a great friend while living around the corner from us in Colonial Heights. I loved the times we worked together in CHAC setting up Little League baseball.

Jake was a gentleman and the nicest person you’d ever want to meet. He also took the deepest divots in golf I’ve ever seen. May he rest in peace.

Jake was truly one of the nicest people I have ever known. I worked with Jake for many years, and his customers had nothing but praise for him and his attention to their needs. He truly was the embodiment of a “team player” in our business. He was conscientious, responsive, and helpful in every aspect of his work. More than that, he was a friend that I missed seeing when he retired and moved from Kingsport. My condolences to his family. He was one of a kind!

Jake will always have a special place in my heart. My late husband and I met Jake and Bev after they moved to St Augustine, Fl. The four of us spent lots of time together. I know that my Jim greeted Jake in heaven and they are catching up as old friends do. RIP my dear friend. Love, Sue (Foley) Lane

I knew Jake for several years when working at Eastman. He was always hard working and dedicated to doing his job. Our group was a close group and always looked out for each other. Have not seen Jake in several years but will not forget his smile and great attitude. Jake was loved by a lot of people. My sympathy goes out to Beverly and Matt. May God Bless!!
