
Coopman, Carl L.
Carl was born March 25, 1922 to a large vegetable producer in Milan, IL. He was a Sergeant in the Army during WWII and spent two and a half years of active duty in the Pacific Theatre. His wife of many years, Dorothy Jems, and brother, Gene, are both deceased. Lucille Coopman, wife of Gene, lives in Silvis, IL. His living brother, Robert R. and wife, Teresa, live in Hollywood, FL. He has many loving nieces and nephews. He began selling produce for his father at the age of 17 and was Produce Manager at an A&P at 19. After the war, he began working for the Illinois Wholesale Grocery Co. as a Salesman helping to bring it to new heights in institutional selling. He remained an active golf player throughout his life. He was an altar boy in his youth and remained dedicated to the Catholic Church, ushering at St. Francis Xavier Parish until his death. He will be remembered for his loving and helpful manner with parishioners, family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4715 N. Central Ave., Phoenix.
