It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Arthur Cunningham III, who died unexpectedly on August 15, 2018 near his summer home in Coeur d’alene Idaho.
Art was born in Phoenix, Arizona on March 15, 1958 to Arthur Cunningham, Jr. and Katherine Francis Momsen.
Art accomplished many things in life, but will be most remembered for the kind of man he was and how he impacted the lives of so many. Art had a presence within him that made all those around him feel loved, appreciated, and special. His warmth, spontaneity, energy, sense of humor, generosity and love he showed others was inspiring. Art simply loved life. Art had a long and respected career in commercial real estate. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all those who knew him.
Art is survived by his loving fiancé Janet Dillon Duval and her sons; sisters Peggy Burgess and Kay Magri, brother John; and their spouses; his many adoring nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; cousins; he was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joan Hines and Aunt Margie.
Visiting hours will be at Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E. Lincoln Drive on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. concluding with a Rosary at 6:30 P.M. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Brophy Chapel, 4701 N Central Avenue, Phoenix, on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. Please note seating is limited. Sadens my heart to hear of Art’s passing. I can see him like it was yesterday at the carwash. I think he came in at least 3 to 4 times a week for years. Sometimes with his buddy John to not only wash his car but get shoeshines. Everyone loved him. Always a cheerful hello with a great warm smile. Just a very nice person that could make your day better. The Lindstrom family sends our deepest sympathy to Art’s fiancee, family and his friends. We know he will be deeply missed. Our prayers are with you. The Lindstrom family.

Art was funny and kind, polite and engagung.
He was moral, respectatabe and generous. He loved and cherished his friends and family. He lived life to the fullest always embacing those around him.
He was everpresent. I felt his friendship always even though our lives took different paths.
He will be greatly missed. Art will have impacted my life and the lives of so many others for the better. He left us too soon.

I remember Art from the time he entered the real estate business in Phoenix. He was always the guy with a smile who asked how you were doing. Over the years, I followed his career, and I was so happy to see him succeed and be partners with his friends. I can’t believe he is gone. Way too soon.

Art has been a family friend for over 30 years, more like a brother to my Father. Every year when visiting my parents in Coeur d’Alene, I would look forward to the day that we would get together with Art and Janet. Art has always been such a ray of sunshine. So much fun to be around. He was so enthusiastic about life and had this energy about him that just drew you in. There simply are no words to describe how badly he will be missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.

On behalf of the South Mountain community I want to express our deep since of loss- not just for us but for the Valley. Art had been working with a group of us in the Baseline Corridor to develop a unique agriculturally themed project fitting our vision for the area. He was one of only a handful of developers that we have met over the last 20 years that truly wanted to contribute to our community and leave something special for future generations. We knew we could trust him and had great respect for him. Not only was he a visionary, he was a special man full of life. We are devastated he is gone- a tremendous loss for anyone who had the good fortune to know him.

Janet Lou. I’m so sorry to hear of Art’s passing. My name is Jim Krick. I was a pledge brother of Art’s at ASU and we stayed in touch through the years. Recently, Art helped my son with contractor names as he opened an electric bicycle shop in North Scottsdale. Art was a great guy. We had sooo much fun in college and were both in the real estate business and often talked about different deals. I last saw Art (Bucky) at a Phi Delta Theta mini reunion in Phoenix a year ago. He & I were the only guys from our pledge class so we got to spend a lot of time together that night. I live in Fort Worth, TX. and am sorry I could not make the service but heard the service was nice and the reception was very well attended, including several Phi’s.
