DAVIS, GRACE ELEANOR

April 11, 2014 2 Condolences

DAVIS,

Grace E. (Eleanora) (Deitke) Davis 90, of Phoenix, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2014.  She was born in Johnstown, PA on August 23, 1923 to Charles and Elizabeth Dietke.  Grace graduated from Richland High School in 1940, married Charles E. Davis on August 23, 1942 and moved to Arizona in November 1947.  She worked for Jestila and Holroyd Attorneys at Law and retired from Stewart Title and Trust. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, walking and playing cards, belonged to the Red Hat Society (Decadent Dames), Pharicon, Devonshire Senior Center and Walkabout Arizona and was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Phoenix.  Grace never met a stranger. She loved to talk to people and had a zest for life.  She lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed.  Preceded in death by her parents, sister Marion Cockrell, brother Ronald Deitke, and son Gary.  She is survived by siblings  Charles Deitke (Margie Serokman), Thomas Deitke (Peggy Dernas), and Barbara Varner (Don) all of Johnstown, PA, Constance Roberts (Larry) of OH, brother-in-law Mack Cockrell of GA and sister-in-law Paula Deitke of MA, son Blaine (Carolyn), grandchildren Bryan, Stacy and Lance, and 5 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30am, Friday, April 18, 2014 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road.

    Hi, I was out of town and was stunned to learn of Grace’s death. Truly she never met a stranger and will be greatly missed. I thought of her as an older sister. Will there be a service at church also? I have a little photo of her with John McCain, if you are putting up pictures at the service. My condolences to the family, Jackie
