If you believe that the path to Heaven is about serving and enriching the lives of others, and I do, then Dave would be first in line. I can’t express how my life, and that of my whole family, has been truly enriched by knowing Dave as a warm, loving, wonderful person, and having him and the band play for our special events. Thank you, Dave. I’m so grateful to have had you in my life.

So sorry for the loss of Dave. I was able to speak to him at my Sister’s Celebration which he attended. He was in good spirits. Love to the Dodt clan.

I will never be able to listen to THE BEATLES again without thinking of you my dear, dear friend of over 50 years. I treasure our collective memories reaching back to the Old Tempe days, our crazy times at UNCLE ALBERT’S, being let in the VIP backdoor of Lonnegans ( I truly felt important because of you); but most importantly, I will always treasure our vacations together: our week traveling around the Hawaiian islands and our sightseeing in Singapore and Koh Samui. I am reminded of Auden’s quatrain:
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
I miss you so much my brother

We have lost a truly great musician! My prayers are for his friends and family and their loss. God bless you. I have many memories of great music and Dave and band. Looking back those times gave me hours of good rock and roll.

Condolences to the Dodt Family. I am saddened to just learn of Willie’s passing in January. Willie and Bob were great friends from St. Agnes Church.

I was fortunate to meet Dave in the Lonnegans days. His kindness and zest for life, along with his incredible musical talents led to Mesa, Prescott, Flagstaff and Scottsdale trips to attend his performances over the years . He had the ability to make you feel included even though you knew you were just a wannabe. Thirty five years later those memories, along with a cassette tape he gave me of a Lonnegans performance remind me how blessed we were to know him.

I have so much respect for my friend David Dodt. I saw David as a wonderfully gifted working artist who’s singing and playing personally touched me to the core. I’m happy that I was able to share my gratitude in a conversation with David a couple years back. I sincerely thanked him for all the musical joy that I was able to experience because of his talent. So much fun. To be honest the conversation at the time was a bit awkward, like from a fan to artist perspective, but I plowed through because I meant it. Mark, Eric, Debbie (and more)…. I know we saw David and his tight band play probably two to three hundred times. So much fun. I was reminiscing that for me and my buddies in Phoenix, David came into our lives back in our early ASU days. What a gift you are David Dodt, both as along-time friend and more. So much fun.

50 years of wonderful memories, too many to count and too fond to forget. Yes there are pictures and recordings but mostly the thoughts and feelings that accompany 50 years of friendship and love. Although David is gone, those memories will live on forever.
