
Perry, Donald H.
78, passed away August 11, 2009 with his wife Joanne by his side. An Arizona native, Don was born December 25, 1930 in Phoenix and attended Kenilworth Elementary and Phoenix Union High School graduating in l948. Don attended Phoenix College and ASU. In l976 he married his sweetheart, Joanne Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents Hiram and Barbara Berkenkamp Perry. He is survived by his wife Joanne, sister-in-law, Alice Herwehe, 12 nieces and nephews plus numerous grand and great nieces and nephews. Don served in the Air Force l952-1960. Served in Korea l952-53 with the 36th Fighter Bomber Squadron and continued his service in the Army Reserve. After his service he was with the Maricopa County Sheriff Department, retiring after 20 years in l980. Don also was with MVD and ASU West Security. Don was a Life Member of the BPOE, serving as Exalted Ruler of Tempe #2251 Lodge. He served many years on the Americanism Committee, his favorite. Don was also a Life Member of American Legion Post #1, Life Member of Korean War Veterans, Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #720. Don attended St. Gregory Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 am, Saturday, August 15, with a Funeral Service at 11:30 am, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phx. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St. Phx. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phx. AZ 85014 or Elks National Foundation, 2750 N. Lakeview Ave., Chicago, IL, 60614 or to a Charity of your choice.
