
Eleanor V. Skip Jones-Mangotich, 90, of Phoenix, AZ, born on February 16, 1918 in Dothan, Alabama passed away on May 14, 2008. She is survived by her husband, Edward Mangotich, two sisters Jean Johnsen of Upper Montclair, NJ and Bette Ayers of Floral City, FL, and a step-son Larry Jones of Grand Junction, CO. Skip moved to Arizona in the 1950’s and was employed as an executive secretary for a number of years. Skip led an active life throughout her years in Arizona. She was an acclaimed soprano and during her early years in Arizona sang as a guest soloist at churches of many different denominations. Skip was a long time member of the Heard Museum, president of the Museum Guild and a volunteer worker in the Museum Gift Shop. She was a long time member of Valley Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and member of the church choir. A patron of the arts, she supported the Phoenix Symphony and the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Skip was a member of the New Dimensions womens organization. Due to her concern for animals, particularly cats, she supported a variety of animal welfare organizations. An avid golfer, Skip was awarded the CLGA President’s Cup in 1990. A memorial service will be held in the Valley Presbyterian Church Chapel, 6947 E. McDonald Drive, on Saturday, May 31 at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd., Kanab, Utah 84741.
