FISHER, MARCIA McCONOUGHEY

May 17, 2021 Leave A Condolence

Marcia Fisher

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother passed away on Monday September 14, 2020.  Marcia was born on November 21, 1929 to Edward and Louise McConoughey in Kansas City, MO. She moved to Phoenix, AZ when she was 11 years old and attended North High and Arizona State University where she received her Master’s Degree in Education. While living in Phoenix she met and married Peter W. Fisher.

Marcia taught 5th and 6th grade (gifted program) for 35-years in the Osborn School District at Encanto, Clarendon and Grandview Elementary Schools. She enjoyed giving back to the community.  She was very active in her sorority alumni associations (Gama Phi Beta).  She volunteered at Assistance League of Phoenix and served on the board and participated on several committees including operation school bell, membership, annual fundraising events, etc.

She enjoyed traveling, golfing and spending summers in San Diego, CA and at the cabin in Munds Park, AZ. She enjoyed playing golf at Moon Valley Country Club and Pinewood Country Club for several years.

She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Peter W. Fisher, her sons, David Holland, Thomas Holland and his wife Deborah Holland, Scott Fisher and his wife Nancy Fisher and her grandchildren Zachary Holland and his wife Jeanne Holland, Jennifer Fisher, Dustin Fisher, Lauren Kraushaar and great-grandchildren Edward Holland and Andrew Holland.

She will be missed very much and our hearts are full and content knowing that she is reunited with family and friends in Heaven and enjoying God’s Glory. We thank her for teaching us how to love and enjoy life and that the cup is always half full. Her optimism and love for family, friends and life was truly contagious.

A private celebration of life has been held with family.  The family requests that donations be made in her memory to Assistance League of Phoenix, 9224 N. 5th Street, Phoenix, AZ  85020. Condolences and Hugs from Home may be expressed at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com.
