FISHER, WILLIAM OTTUS “BILL”

July 16, 2014 Leave A Condolence

FISHER,

William Ottus Fisher (Bill) passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 9, 2014, at his home in Phoenix.    Bill was born on August 1, 1938, in Ajo, Arizona.  He attended Kenilworth Elementary and West High Schools in Phoenix and graduated from the University of Arizona, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.    After college, Bill worked at United Materials and Superior Companies, where he served as President.  He later became active in the plumbing industry and was elected President of the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC) in Phoenix.     Bill was active in several community service and professional organizations and served on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club.  A man of varied interests, Bill enjoyed designing and building things, including a Cobra automobile and a Lightning airplane.    In recent years he became interested in painting and displayed a style that combined his engineering and artistic sensibilities.  Bill lived part of the year at his home in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico, near Lake Chapala.  There he pursued his interest in art, and was a patron of the Northern Lights Music Festival.    Bill will be remembered for his great personal warmth, his thoughtfulness, his subtle humor and his analytical mind.  Bill was truly a “man’s man” with a tender heart.  He brought us joy.    Bill is survived by his sons Jeff and Mike, his sisters Barbara Jane (Janie) Shelton and Ethel Rowland, brother-in-law Archer Shelton, and by his best friend and soulmate, Anne Zell.    A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ.
