Robin Forsberg passed away peacefully at home with friends and family near on Friday, August 1, 2014. She was born September 5, 1958, in Phoenix, Arizona to Herb and Betty Forsberg. She spent her entire life in Arizona, a state she loved, from the Papago Mountains, where she hiked with friends, to the pine forests of Flagstaff-a favorite family destination.

She graduated from Northern Arizona University with degrees in Journalism, Education and Environmental Science. She used this background and her love of the earth to do many special projects on environmental topics with her students at J.B. Sutton Elementary where she taught. Her long career at Sutton Elementary included roles as a teacher of Kindergarten through 2nd grade and as the school Librarian.

Robin’s faith and her church family at First Baptist Church of Scottsdale were very important to her. She was active in many church projects and groups and enjoyed the friendships and support of her church community.

Her immediate and extended family played a large role in her life. She was the driving force behind many family reunions and get togethers. She is survived by her mother Helen Elizabeth (Betty) Forsberg, her sister and brother in law Roberta and Richard Pailes, and nephews Nathan and Matt Pailes, her aunt Jean Huntington, as well as many many first, second and third cousins.

Robin faced many health challenges during her life. With the help of her friends, family and caregiver she met these events with courage and patience. She was a kind and gentle woman whose values, ideals and generosity of spirit showed throughout her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the JDRF, The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Arizona Humane Society.

A visitation will be held Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home with a Funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. Please join us after the services for fellowship in Robin’s honor. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.

So sorry to hear her passing. I just loved Robin… since our days at East High School. She was such a kind person and I enjoyed working with her on our high school reunion. Such a loving and gentle spirit. Rest in Peace, dear Robin. Hugs and love to her family and friends.

Condolence from Becky Howe on August 5th, 2014 4:43 pm

I have so many wonderful memories of Robin through the years. She began as my middle sister’s friend during their time together at East High School, and she quickly became a dear friend to my entire family. Through all her trials, I never saw Robin complain or give up. She was a fierce fighter with a gentle, kind soul and a smile for all. The world is much better for her having been in it. She will be terribly missed. I pray for comfort and healing for her mother and family and all those who held her dear.

I went to Orangedale with Robin, in several grades together and band. She was always so friendly and always had her big beautiful smile. The family is in my thoughts at this very sad time. She was much too young for you to have to lose her.

Condolence from Tom Nesdill on August 7th, 2014 4:25 pm

My deepest sympathies. Robin was a good friend from playing together as kids, to talking in the halls in high school and then as we kept in touch over the years. She was always cheerful and willing to help if asked.

There are not enough words to describe what a beautiful person Robin was. She will be deeply missed. I look forward to the day I see her again. I am praying that everyone touched by Robin’s life will be comforted by The Father’s loving arms.

Condolence from Terry (Nesdill) James on August 10th, 2014 7:04 am

My deepest sympathies to Betty and Roberta. Robin was my childhood friend and she was always kind and considerate. The world is a better place because she lived and is a little sadder because she is no longer with us.

I am so greatly saddened by the news of Robin’s passing. She and I have known each other for over 25 years. She and I did a hilarious song routine at our church’s singles retreat back in 1990. We did a rap song about recycling. She was a newspaper and I was a can of Diet Coke. We got rave reviews. She threw my wedding shower for me and it was lovely and fun! Robin’s beautiful flute playing blessed my wedding in 1991! While we have lived far apart since 1992, we kept in touch through email, letters, facebook, and phone calls. She visited us back when my kids were small. They had so much fun with her. I love her and will treasure our relationship always. She was kind, loving, thoughtful, and made others feel special. She adored her students and spoke highly of them. She loved being an aunt! I know her life touched many other lives. She will be so very missed but never forgotten. May God comfort all her family and friends. Now she is with her Savior for eternity, resting in His loving arms!

Believe it or not, Ms. Forsberg was my second grade teacher. I am now 31, living in Phoenix, successful in my professional life and always think about those education leaders who have shaped my life. Ms. Forsberg was a huge part of not only my childhood but my future. I can still recall specific moments where she made that extra special impact on my day. I’m deeply sorry to hear of her passing. She will always be remembered in my heart.
