GAMA, MARISA A.
Marisa Gama passed away on September 8, 2023. She was 43 years old. She is survived by her husband, Don Hudspeth, a local attorney, her father Joe Richard Gama, a retired judge, her mother, Sylvia La Mar, a retired accountant, her brother, an attorney in Colorado, and an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. Those who knew her, loved her.
Marisa idolized her father and was on the phone or in person with her mother almost everyday, especially near the end. She loved being an aunt to her brother’s twin boys. Her last thoughts were of her family, how she loved them, and would miss them.
Marisa went to Xavier College Prep., the University of Arizona, and lived and studied in Italy. In school she was recognized as an exceptional athlete and formidable opponent. She came just short of achieving her “black belt” in Karate at age 8. She had drive and determination. She worked in advertising and marketing and literally “had it all.” If not for her illness she could have done most anything she set her mind to.
Marisa loved animals and volunteered for the ASCPA. She and Don had two rescue dogs, Dylan and Bailey. Caring and compassionate she could not pass a person, or an animal without wanting to help.
Marisa was bright, beautiful and outgoing with many friends and acquaintances. Her smile could light up the world.
Marisa liked reading, scrabble and crime shows.
Marisa’s life cut short. Her death is a tragedy, for herself, her family and friends and to the world.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 2PM at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Reception will immediately follow the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com.
Marisa was my roommate in college. I have so many memories of her with that same big smile she has in this picture. I remember her mother and father and how highly she spoke of them, my heart breaks for her family. All my prayers, Julie
