GARCIA,

Garcia, Lucy Magdaleno

Beautiful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend became one of God’s Angels on November 13, 2009. She was finally reunited with her infant son, Salvador, parents, Maria and Andres Magdaleno, and brothers and sisters who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Salvador D. Garcia and her children: Eleanor “Ellie” (Bill), Dr. Robert Garcia (Dorothy), David, Michael, Lorrie (Sam), Annette (Bobby), Sally (Danny), Sal (Melissa) and 17 Grandchildren: Bianca (her 5th daughter), Matthew, Geannine, David, Rachel, Danielle, Sammy, Shelby, Madison, Bobby III, Kathryn, Zachary, Miles, Seth, Isabella, Ava, Lucy and 1 great grandchild, CJ. Mom was born January 25, 1932, in Grover Canyon, in Claypool, Arizona. She was the 8th of 14 children. The family moved to Phoenix, in April 1945, after her Father was killed in a mining accident, in the Inspiration Mine. She attended Lowell Elementary School and graduated from St. Mary’s Girls High School in l951. She married our dad, Salvador, in October l951. In addition to raising 8 children, Mom received her brokers license and was co-owner of Busy Realty and later retired from Revlon after working there for 20 years. Mom was the light of our lives and the heart of our family. She was our strength. She was always there for us and showed us unconditional love. Everyone who met her fell in love with her. She was so kind, very generous and so beautiful inside and out. Mom was a devout Catholic and attended mass every Sunday and prayed the rosary daily. She had a great sense of humor and she loved her family so much. She was a fantastic cook and baker. Lasagna, tacos, tamales, cheesecake, pineapple upside-down-cake, snickerdoodle cookies and Thanksgiving stuffing will never taste the same again. She loved her dolls, her cookbooks, her flowers and plants and her figurines. We shared so many family gatherings, birthdays and celebrations and she was at the center of it all. She will leave a void that can never be filled again. We love you so much Mom and we will miss you FOREVER. In our deep sorrow and sadness, we take comfort in knowing you will always live on in our hearts and through our children. We will see you again Mom. WE LOVE YOU. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm, Friday, November 20, 2009 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 21, 2009 at St. Mary’s Basilica, 231 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.

Condolences for the family of “GARCIA, LUCY MAGDALENO”

Condolence from Angie (Insunza) Martinez on November 17th, 2009 11:17 am

We were very sad and in total shock when we heard about Tia Lucy. We always had fun with Tia Lucy when she would come out to San Diego. I know our mom, sister Tesa all of our Tia’s, Tio’s, cousins and of course Nana Maria welcomed her with opened arms. “Blessed are those who mourn; God will comfort them!”. This is our faith, this is what we believe. Thinking of you always –
Love your cousin, Angie

Condolence from Patti Blanco on November 20th, 2009 5:25 pm

Since moving back to Phoenix in 2003, I had a chance to spend some time with my mother’s sisters including Tia Lucy. I had always loved her gentle and sweet presence, but since getting to know her better as an adult I realized that she was also very funny and witty. There was a lot below that placid surface. After my dad died this past August, Tia Lucy called my mother Chayo just about every day to check up on her and offer comfort. One day about a week before Lucy passed, my mother told me, “You know, my sister Lucy is such a a loving person. She’s always thinking of others, always giving.” I noticed that they had been growing closer over the past couple of years. How bitter to lose her just at this time in their relationship. We will treasure our memories of her always.

Much love to all of you,
Patti Blanco
