Born, June 4, 1911 in Riverside, Iowa, passed away March 10, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. Born to Charles and Agnes (Schnoebelen) Strabala. Married Orville Gauthier February 25, 1944 and worked as a rural school teacher in Iowa, volunteered with the USO during WWII and spent many years as a supervisor at the Arizona Employment Commission. Preceded in death by five brothers, Edward, Omer, John, Victor and Cecil and by her husband Orville and son Henry. Survived by daughter-in-law, Joan from Portland, OR, granddaughter Laura and great-granddaughter Lillian of Pendleton, OR, granddaughter Anne and great-granddaughter Kayla, and 24 nieces and nephews. Vivian was a lifelong member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm with a Rosary at 7pm Friday, March 15 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30am, Saturday, March 16, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1954 N. 24th Street. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family suggests a donation to St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, P O Box 13600, Phx., AZ 85002.
