GHIZ, JAZELLE MARIE

June 2, 2017 6 Condolences

Jazelle Ghiz

Jazelle Marie Ghiz, beloved wife, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, Godmother and dear friend to many passed away suddenly on May 31, 2017 in Laguna Beach, CA. Jazelle was the oldest of six children born to George and Sally Ghiz. She actually shared the same birthday as our father George and what a gift she was to him the day she was born. She was married to Ellzey Martin, the love of her life, for 21 years. As the oldest of 6 kids, Jazelle was always the leader of the Ghiz “troops”. She took on the role of being the oldest child with dignity, passion and love, just like she did everything in her life. George and Sally Ghiz could not have asked for a more perfect daughter who would guide and consul their family until the day she passed away. Jazelle was blessed with a dazzling, warm, loving and compassionate smile and an infectious personality that would instantly capture your heart. She had a love and passion for fashion that was unparalleled and worn with beauty and grace. She was a community leader in fund raising for several charitable foundations helping raise incredible amounts of money. When a foundation needed someone to chair a capital campaign they could always count on Jazelle to take on this role with love and passion. Jazelle was a kind soul that touched many lives. If you knew Jazelle, you loved Jazelle. There was no denying she led a full and loving life during her time on this earth and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. After the family sold Paddock Pools in 2005 and our mother Sally passed away in 2007, Jazelle got the itch to move to a cooler climate. She finally settled on Laguna Beach in 2012 and her and Ellzey packed up everything and moved. They enjoyed a peaceful life together in this beautiful city by the sea. With ocean views from most every room in their home, she had finally found a place to spend the rest of her life with her wonderful husband Ellzey. Jazelle was preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, Sally and George Ghiz and her dear brother Edward, whom we just lost on February 13, 2017. Jazelle is survived by her beloved husband Ellzey Martin, to whom the Ghiz family is eternally grateful too for his unconditional love, support and care of our sister. She is also survived by her loving sister Angelle (Roger) and her brothers George, Buzz (Janice) and David (Melanie) and many nieces and nephews and Ellzey’s daughter Tracy, son Randy and their families. May her memory be eternal. A Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 P.M. with Trisagion prayers at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 and a Funeral Service at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at St. George Antiochian Church, 4530 E. Gold Dust Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85028. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Make A Wish Foundation or St. George Antiochian Church in Jazelle’s name.

I am so sorry to hear of Jazelle’s passing. My mother and Sally were friends and pregnant at the same time. Unfortunately, we have not been in contact for many years, but news of Jazelle was hard to take. My condolences to her brothers and sister.
