Carmen Vasquez Gomez, 95 of Tempe, Arizona passed away at 1:52pm, Tuesday, March 24, 2015. She was the wife of Ramon M. Gomez who proceeded her in Heaven. Married fifty years, Ramon and Carmen are survived by their children: Ramon (Celia), Salvador (Lupita), John (Sue), Frank (Mary), David (Lollys), Raphael (Karen) and Therese de la Torre (Robert), Lupe Hernandez (Edgar), Alberta Shepard (Dan), Carmen Maldonado (Vince), Christina Hipolito (Ruben) and Maria Dong (Jack). Carmen and Ramon also had many grandchildren: Serafin, Magdalena, Roman, Dolores, Therese, Gloria, Luisa, Michael, Gina, Raquel, Bianca, Joey, JJ, Miguel, Carlos, Marisa, Michelle, Stephen, Adam, Vanessa, Shawn, Michael, Anais, Dani, Andrew, Elaine, Patrick, Julia, David, Micah, Gabriel, Anthony, Natalie, Alec, Cristiana, Arris, Hannah, Avidan, Alana and Stephan. She is also survived by her two sisters, Sister Mariana Vasquez, M.M. and Maria Fierros as well as many Godchildren, nieces and nephews. Carmen had a strong faith and built her family on a foundation of prayer. She was very proud of her Mexican roots, encouraging her children to speak Spanish. She loved to dance and sing. She also loved birds. Carmen never feared what this world had in store for her. May God’s face shine ever upon her and she realize the joy of each sacrifice. Carmen continues to be well loved, admired and respected by those who were fortunate to share her life. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, March 30, 2015 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 2121 S. Rural Road, Tempe. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
