Maria T. Grochowski

Mrs. Maria T Grochowski

By: Iwona (Evona) A. Grochowski

Maria was born In Warsaw, Poland on August 15, 1936 and passed away on October 24, 2021. She is survived by her only daughter Iwona.

My mother was an extremely, extremely religious individual, who believed in God, and said her prayers, in front of a “Black Madonna” image, which she brought from grandmother’s house, all the way from, Poland. Every member of the Grochowski family, was born in Warsaw, Poland.  They first moved to NYC, and in 1969 everyone, moved to Phoenix, Arizona which is where Mr. Stanislaw Grochowski, had always dreamed of living since his childhood days, in Poland. This was the big dream, to live in Phoenix, AZ.

Full name: Mrs. Maria T. Grochowski, was the wife of Mr. Stanislaw Grochowski and the beloved mother of her daughter, Iwona (Evona) A Grochowski.

Maria was a very strong, confident, sensitive, as well as a bit on the stubborn side of a female. She was artistic and while the Grochowski family lived in NYC, her career path led her to become a Master Jeweler. Educated by the best of the best in NYC. At one point in time, Maria was asked if she wanted to start a career as a fashion model, however by this time she had a family, a daughter and a husband, and unfortunately politely declined. She was an amazingly attractive and beautiful woman. Additionally, on my mother’s side of the family, all of the ladies, had special sensitive abilities when it came to paranormal activities. Both my mother, grandmother, and others before my grandmother; and I have these abilities. I know not all of you out there believe, but it is something that exists, and it is true.

She loved her daughter very much and was and is loved very much. She was not afraid of a good challenge in life. She had all sorts of positions, from cleaning at the Esplanade Hotel in NYC, to a secret security, while she was learning her craft as a master jeweler. Upon finishing her learning and apprenticeships as a master jeweler, she quickly advanced through the ranks and became a master jeweler herself. My mother’s claim to fame was that she designed two fine jewelry pieces, for Mrs. Jackie’ O Kennedy, and she even had the opportunity to meet with her in, person. Unfortunately, my mother’s childhood dreams of becoming an actress, never became a reality for her, I have always felt very saddened about that. Perhaps if she agreed to be a model, who knows where that path, may have led her.

In Poland both of my parents, had a very difficult time, during WWII. When my parents decided to get married, there was a communistic regime in charge of our country. Which did not even allow my parents to take photographs, during their wedding. Why? Because photography is a visual form of documentation, and communists did not want the world to know, what was going on in much of Europe during this time. So, photography, during events such as weddings, was prohibited during those times.

My mother’s educational background was quite strict as well, she attended a Catholic nuns’ school in a convent type of setting. Some time ago, I had the opportunity to visit where my mother went to school and witnessed how those nuns really did practice what they preached, i.e., cleanliness is indeed close to godliness. The floors of this convent were so clean you could have a baby on it. There was even one nun, who must have been at least 100 years old and remembered my mother as a child. While in Phoenix, my mother was employed as a master jeweler, in one store for over 30 years. Prior to this, she only had two other positions, all as a master jeweler. She has done some traveling and would love to visit her mother in Poland quite often. She mostly loved to cook, and her meals were all excellent. She loved her soap operas, Polish TV and even Italian Soap operas. She watched movies on dish that were translated to Polish. While living in NYC and in Phoenix, Arizona, our family enjoyed traveling immensely. We traveled together as a tight family unit quite often. The one trip which I enjoyed greatly with my mother was a trip we took together in 1977, after I graduated from high school, we went to Hawaii. That was so much fun!

My dearest, dearest, mother you will be missed, more than any mere, words are able to express. You were such a warm, kind, loving, highly spirited mother, who always cared and loved me, and took such care of me, my entire life. After daddy passed in 2013, we just had each other, and whichever puppy dog, we had at the time. I always felt greatly loved, cherished and cared for. You mean everything in this world to me. My worst fear has always been to be left all alone, now this fear has turned into the most horrible, reality. I want to be with you, wherever you may be, I will always, have you with me, deep within my heart.

Thank you, mother, for a most wonderful life, and all of my treasured Memories, which you have given me. I will always treasure them, always Love you, miss you, more than anything in this world. I am not ready to let go, even though I must. I will think of you, every single day, and talk to you as if you were still, here. I won’t even be scared, should you be able to answer me. You will always be, missed, much loved and I your daughter, will always carry you deep within my heart. Until we meet again…mother I love you. This is just the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life.

In the end, family, is everything, and all that we have, you were my most precious treasures, you and daddy. Hopefully, I will see you again, I must believe in this.

She is survived by a loving daughter, Iwona (Evona) Grochowski. She will be dearly missed.
