Bernice Hadad

Age 88, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2013.  She was born in Trinidad, Colorado on September 16, 1924 and graduated from Trinidad High School and Trinidad College.  Bernice met Leo Hadad, also from Trinidad, in 1952.  They married in June, 1958 and she moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Leo then lived.  She worked with her husband in the family business for 41 years, as Secretary-Treasurer while at the same time providing guidance and counsel to her son and daughter.  Bernice made many wonderful, lifelong friends through her associations.  Despite a decline in health, she maintained her wonderful spirit and sense of humor.  She was an inspiration to her family and friends as she struggled through her ailments but kept her courage.  Some of Bernice’s fondest memories are from the many travels with Leo.  Bernice always brought a smile to the faces of those who knew her and she will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.  Survivors include husband Leo, with whom she shared a 55 year marriage, daughter Denise and nephew John in Phoenix; special friends Lynnette Anderson, and Hani Elyoussef of Phoenix and sister Shirley Quintana of Albuquerque.  She is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.  Bernice was preceded in death by her son John and sister Connie.  Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am, Friday, September 6, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4715 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix.  Reception follows at the Cedar Club, 1702 E. Northern Avenue.  Donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 110 W. Merrill Street, Phoenix, AZ 85013.
