Our beloved son Cory Miller Hakes has passed away at the age of 38 in his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona.
Cory is survived by his wonderful children, Adrian and Isabel and their mother Terri, his mother and father, Erin and Daren, and his gang of brothers, sister and his loving girlfriend, Deena. Also, his infinite amount of aunts, uncles, grandmother, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Cory was a proud member of Local Union 336 where he worked as a dedicated stagehand and enjoyed the friendship of his many coworkers. Born and raised in Phoenix, Cory was a talented athlete who competed in football, wrestling and baseball at Apollo High school. He was responsible for teaching his brothers the joys of wedgies, noogies, wet willies and the way of fearlessness. Cory had the heart of a lover and a fighter. So apparent to those who knew him, especially Adrian and Isabel, who were the absolute light and happiness to his life. We all trust that they will carry your torch and put smiles on others’ faces with the same grace that you possessed. Cory Miller Hakes, you will be forever missed. Your unforgettable, honest and incredible laugh will infinitely bring warmth to our days. We love you with the whole of our hearts and we thank you for the time you have gifted all of us.

CORY: Just can’t believe this is true.. I hope you are doing okay on the other side. You were taken tooo soon., but I always say there is a reason for everything. Just want to thank you for all the times you helped me with my son Joel, he really does have love for you, and I appreciated the love you had for him. That will forever stay with me in my heart.. I haven’t told him the news, and don’t want to and will not. I’m glad you talked to him on the phone last week and he heard your voice one last time.. Thanks for all the times you hooked it up when I was out and you weren’t ( if you know what I mean) Anyway, I hope you can somehow bring your spirit to help guide your loved ones to move on as peacefully as possible. Your presence will be certainly missed, but NEVER forgotten.
Love Always and Forever- NAG
Isabel Hakes
