
Sister Anna Bailey Hannah Teresa was born in Cork, Ireland, October 15, 1916 – the only daughter of Charles Bailey and Ellen O’Donoghue Bailey. In l935, she became a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary Loreto and in l956 came to Phoenix, Az., where she taught 4th, 6th, 7th & 8th grades in her education career at Saints Simon and Jude School. She was also very active in volunteer ministries and in her retirement was co-founder of Potter’s Field Ministry – the burial of the indigent poor with dignity and prayer. She was for many years spiritual director to the St. Vincent de Paul Chapter at Saints Simon and Jude Cathedral, spiritual director to the former Ss. Simon and Jude Altar Guild and a dedicated volunteer at André House ministering to the homeless with prayer and compassion. She will be sadly missed by her Loreto Sisters – especially Sister Teresita Ryan and by all her other relatives in Ireland. Her joy, support, smile and gentle spirit will be a remembered testimony to her life of service and dedication to the Lord. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:30 pm at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27TH Ave, Phoenix. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am, Wednesday, April 22, at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral. Interment to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Loreto Sisters Retirement Fund, or to the Ss. Simon and Jude Vincent de Paul Society.
