It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Jana Hayden, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, and friend. Jana passed away on Good Friday, April 7, 2023, at the age of 46, as a result of a tragic car accident that also claimed the life of her youngest daughter, Joy Anna.
Jana was born on November 11, 1976, in Scottsdale, Arizona. She graduated from Arizona State University with two degrees in Business and Economics–a testament to her hardworking and ambitious nature. In middle school and high school, Jana was an accomplished gymnast and enjoyed playing the flute.
Jana was a full-time, caring mother to her five children: Alexa Hayden-Michaels, Ethan, Ryan, Grace, and Joy Anna Diaz. She was a faithful wife to her husband, Domingo (Chino) Diaz, and they loved one another deeply. Jana never forgot her family and always made sure to remember special holidays and birthdays.
Jana had a heart for the hurting and was always eager to lend a helping hand. She loved children and animals. Her friendly nature meant that she rarely met a stranger. Jana loved making deep connections with others. She was known for her infectious laughter. Jana had a heart for giving and was always looking for ways to serve others. She had a deep passion for learning and investigating everything, and her research skills were second to none. She was also a shrewd negotiator.
She loved playing games, and her competitive spirit meant that she was always up for a challenge. She relished vacationing with her family in Coronado, CA, and Flagstaff, AZ, and was always planning something fun for the family to enjoy.
Jana’s love for Jesus was evident in everything she did, and she regularly attended Christ Church Lutheran. Her family cherishes the assurance that she is healed and whole and with her Savior today!
Jana leaves behind a loving family who grieves her deeply, including her husband Domingo, her children Alexa, Ethan, Ryan, Grace, and Joy Anna (deceased) her parents James Boyd and Lori Hayden Boyd, her brother Brian Hayden and James Boyd II (deceased), her sisters Ashley Boyd and Rebecca Boyd Westfall (Parker), her grandparents Earl (deceased) and Jacqueline Edgley, and her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jana’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on April 30, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Christ Church Lutheran, 3901 E Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ, with the funeral service following at 3:00 pm. Jana will be laid to rest at Paradise Memorial Gardens on May 1, 2023, at 10:00 am. May her soul rest in peace, and may her family find comfort in the memories they created with her and the knowledge they will see her again in Heaven.

Oh Lori I will call you! My heart hurts for you!
I am so sorry for the loss of Jana and Joy Anna!
To loose a second child and a grandchild is so overwhelming! Jesus carry Lori and her entire family in your arms as they grieve these losses but Heaven’s gain. Jesus give the whole family a picture of You with Jana and Joy Anna in Your arms whole and in the arms of their Savior!
I don’t know what to say but God collects all our tears in his bottle and in scripture Jesus wept too.
Hugs, love and Prayers, Beth Monroe

Dear Family and friends of Jana and Joy,
As we grieve deeply together no words can comfort except those straight from God’s heart to those who have the huge holes left from this tragic news. Although we trust these beautiful souls went straight to the arms of Jesus, May each one sense His never ceasing love that will allow us to lean closer into Him like never before. We love you Hayden , Boyd and Edgley family . Our arms wrap around you so tight and of course anything needed we are here to support and love you .

Jana, although I didn’t know you for very long, your sweet spirit and overflowing exuberance for life was infectious. You genuinely cared about each person who crossed your path. I will cherish the friendship we shared, and look forward to seeing you again when it’s my time to meet Jesus face to face.
