Helen Anne Mitchell, age 97,
passed away on the morning of December 17, 2008. She passed away peacefully, sitting in her chair at Olive Grove Assisted Living. Helen was born March 10, 1911 in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Phoenix in 1972 after losing her husband, Anton. As a romantic, she stayed true to her husband’s memory. As a homemaker, she was famous for her un-birthday gifts, Polish cooking, unstinted family support and for growing volleyball-sized lemons and grapefruits. She graced this earth with a heart of gold, class, dignity and sophistication. She is survived by her daughter Connie Mitchell, 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Two of her children, Barbara Gronek and Angela Wanielista predeceased her. Thank you to the warm and caring family she made at Olive Grove, who took wonderful care of her during her stay. God bless. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 27, at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 North 48th Street, Phoenix. Arrangements under the direction of Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix.
