HERNANDEZ,

Magdalena Maldonado Hernández, 91, passed away late Tuesday, November 19, 2013 surrounded by family. She was born on July 22, 1922 to Rafael Hernandez and Marcelina Maldonado in Arteaga, Michoacán, México. Preceded in death by her husband Miguel Hernández Cabrera in 1962. She, along with her 10 children, migrated to the US in 1964 and became a naturalized citizen on 6/4/99. She leaves a large loving family consisting of her children: Surama Benitez, Pete Herdez (Nadia), George Hernández (Elizabeth), Edgar Hernández MD (Lupe), Lupe Gómez (Sal), Asunción Sosa (Jesús), Reyna Butterfield, Manuel Hernández (Liz), Joe Hernández (Clara) and Salvador Hernández. Included in those who mourn her passing are 33 grandchildren, 54 great grand children and 4 great-great grandchildren – “We Love You, Abuelita.” In our family history, the Gómez family has also become an extended part of our family and joins us in mourning. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Friday, November 22nd, 2013 with a Funeral Service at 11:30am, Saturday, November 23rd at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
