Ignacio Apodaca Ruiz

Ignacio “Nacho” Apodaca Ruiz, 68, of Chula Vista, CA died Monday June 2nd at 11:12 pm at Rio Vista Health Care Center in San Diego. Mr. Ruiz was owner of Nacho Superior Fence, a company he started in 1985 and continued until his retirement five years ago. Born August 31, 1939, in Hermosillo Sonora, Mexico, Mr. Ruiz moved to Phoenix, AZ at the age of five. At 17, he started in the fence building business with American Fence. His job took him all over the southwestern United States and Hawaii. He became a United States citizen in 2002. Mr. Ruiz married Ofelia Avila on April 17, 1960. The couple lived in Phoenix until 1971, when they moved to the San Diego area. He is survived by his wife Ofelia, two daughters: Roseanne Nielsen of Denver, and Cecilia Geerman of San Diego; a son: Ignacio Ruiz, Jr. of San Diego; and three grandchildren: Felicia, Michael, and Sophie Geerman, also of San Diego. He is also survived by two sisters: Virginia Ruiz Orta, and Delia Ruiz, both of Phoenix. Mr. Ruiz was a devoted family man known for his hard work and entrepreneurial spirit; when Phoenix subdivisions were filling up as fast as contractors could build them, a young Mr. Ruiz would fill his truck with supplies and drive through the new neighborhoods building and installing new clotheslines for the new residents.
