IRENE

Powers, Irene R.

Passed away August 23, 2009. She was born August 30, 1920 in Phoenix, to Simona and Harry Broderick. She was a charter member of St. Matthews Parish, a Red Cross Volunteer during WWII, a secretary for Arizona Highways Magazine, but most of her life was dedicated to her family. She attended St. Mary’s High School where she met her husband, Rip. They raised their 9 children on Polk Street where there are many happy memories. Irene will always be remembered as a loving mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. Her generous hospitality, deep faith in God, and loving guidance will forever remain in our hearts. She is predeceased by her husband Rip, her son Stephen, son-in-law William Kanther, brothers Charles Alday, Harry and Lefty Broderick, sisters Lilly Smith, Susan Bogue and Edna Conley. She is survived by her daughters Mona Kanther, Laura Robbins Bryan, Ann, Carmelita Tucker Allen, Mary Dominguez, sons Andrew Terri, Guy Tish, Matthew Tammi, daughter-in-law Nancy, 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Visitation and Rosary will be Thursday, August 27, 2009, 5:00-6:30 pm., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2038 W. Van Buren Street. Interment will be private.
