Lisa has been a long friend of mine and short-term worker for Recovery Managment Systems, Inc. during the days she was studying to be a teacher. She was a joyous spirit that will truly be missed. Her kindness, compassion and servant heart has touched many lives. She seemed to always carry a kind smile, caring word, and constant encouragement of others. She has changed the world as she has taught many young minds through her actions and then her words. Our prayers and condolences to the family, friends and all of those who grieve this unexpected loss.

When Great Trees Fall by Maya Angelou
When great trees fall,
rocks on distant hills shudder,
lions hunker down
in tall grasses,
and even elephants
lumber after safety.
When great trees fall
in forests,
small things recoil into silence,
their senses
eroded beyond fear.
When great souls die,
the air around us becomes
light, rare, sterile.
We breathe, briefly.
Our eyes, briefly,
see with
a hurtful clarity.
Our memory, suddenly sharpened,
examines,
gnaws on kind words
unsaid,
promised walks
never taken.
Great souls die and
our reality, bound to
them, takes leave of us.
Our souls,
dependent upon their
nurture,
now shrink, wizened.
Our minds, formed
and informed by their
radiance, fall away.
We are not so much maddened
as reduced to the unutterable ignorance of
dark, cold
caves.
And when great souls die,
after a period peace blooms,
slowly and always
irregularly. Spaces fill
with a kind of
soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
better. For they existed.

I write this with a heavy heart, but with joy and gratitude for having known Lisa . We met in 1988 while working at Mercy Care Plan, and would take our morning breaks together, walking to Circle K. Her devilish grin and knowing laugh told me “this person and I are on the same page!” Over the years, we shared laughs, tears, and an apartment (briefly). Lisa was light and love every day. She and Jayne showed kindnesses to me and Andrew in his young years, and he remembers her sense of humor to this day. Because of Lisa, Andrew and I were embraced by the Jakubisin Family, and were welcomed into their homes.
I was so proud of her becoming a Teacher, as it was her calling.
Thank you , Lisa for being you. xoxoxo
