
James E. Burnside, Sr.
Of Phoenix, went to be with his bride, Juliaetta Proctor’ Burnside of 57 years and Our Lord Jesus Christ on January 17, 2009. He was born in Kincheloe, West Virginia May 28, 1926; the last of four brothers and five sisters. James came to Phoenix in l962 from Pennsylvania and raised 9 children; Ernestine Rogers deceased, Victoria Griffin, Juanita Perkins, Stephen Guy Burnside deceased, James E. Burnside, Jr. Sheila, Judith Mehlberg Alan, Matthew Burnside deceased, Louella Canez David Jonathan Burnside Cindy; 23 grandchildren, Venus, Melvena, Jenny, Stephanie, Matthew Jr., Becky, Jimmy, Terry deceased, Jay/Johnny, Jennifer, Joseph, Joshua, Tracy, Kerry, David J., Eric, Louisa, Marilu, Julietta, Kimberly, Michael, Clinton and Krisopher; 29 great grandchildren and 2 on the way. James was an Army Veteran and a Deacon at the Church of Christ. He loved driving, traveling and enjoyed doing his lawn service; expecting all the kids to help him with it. He loved the grandkids when they came around and will be greatly missed as the head of our family. Our special thanks to Jason, Ernie Melvena and Venus who were his caregivers the last 3 years of his life as well as the Hospice of the Valley Nurses, Drs and caregivers and the VA Medical Center. Visitation will be at 10:00am, Friday, January 23, with Funeral Service at 11:00am at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road. Interment will be at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, 85024. We Love You Dad, Grandpa.
