
Jerry Miles Laughlin, 80, of Phoenix died July 19, 2007 in Pinetop, Arizona. Jerry was born in Oklahoma City, OK May 16, 1927. He moved to Arizona in 1935 with his father Charlie, mother Norma and sister Jody. Jerry graduated from North High in Phoenix in 1945 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in August of 1946 and soon followed his father and grandfather into the cotton business. Jerry opened his own cotton brokerage firm in Phoenix in 1963, Laughlin Cotton Co. He was a longtime member and past President of the Phoenix Cotton Exchange, past President of the Western Cotton Shippers Association, and Director of the American Cotton Shippers Association. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Elizabeth, sister Jody Smith and brother-in-law Dick Smith, brother-in-law Roy Calhoun Barbara, Laurie Laughlin and Jennifer Kokalis Jason, sons Matthew Laura and Jerry Miles, Jr. Susan, and grandchildren Katie, Matthew, Peter, Brian, Layne, Hannah, Molly, Jeremy, and Grace, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. with a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 24 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 25 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Rd.
