Pauline Teresa Nuanez Jones, a compassionate, caring, proud mother, passed away from COVID-19 on February 3, 2021, at the age of 59 years old. Pauline was born at the Maricopa County Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona on February 19, 1961, to Mellie ‘Nani’ Chavez Nuanez and Alfonso Wilfred Nuanez Sr.
Pauline loved taking her children, Trini and Dominique on adventures even if it meant pulling them out of school for the day. She loved to sing and dance, go to the ocean, fish, hike, read, snowboard, and go camping. She loved with her whole heart and would do anything she could for her family.
As a member of the Society of Creative Anachronisms, she was a member of House Staghold, socialized with the Dark Ones, and found love. Pauline and Michael Jones were married at the Estrella War Event 14 years ago, February 17, 2007.
As part of Pauline’s Catholic faith, she fed the hungry, signed up families for healthcare, and defended immigrants. She was an activist with Mi Familia Vota and Living United for Change in Arizona.
She attended Pasadena City College before becoming a childcare specialist. Caring for children was her passion. In the years preceding her death, she found purpose in caring for her nephew’s children David Jr., Daniel, Kendall, and Daiden Nuanez.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Victoria Medina, sister Maria Crucita Nuanez Olivares, mother Mellie Chavez Nuanez, and father Alfonso Wilfred Nuanez Sr. She is survived by her husband Michael D. Jones, her children Mellie Trinidad Trader and Dominique Medina, Son-in-law Ronald Thomas Trader, her grandchildren Ronald T. Trader Jr, Heather Michelle Trader, Madeline Sage Trader, Michael, and Andrew. Her siblings Linda Nuanez-Davis, Rachel Nuanez, Alfonso Wilfred Nuanez Jr, Irene Nuanez, Jennifer Lynn Nuanez and Karen Serrano, her step-mother Elvira M. Nuanez, and her many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Services will take place on Friday, February 19, 2021 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1954 N. 24th St, in Phoenix. Visitation begins at 9:30 AM and the Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Burial to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St., in Phoenix. Condolences may be expressed at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com.

My heart goes out to Pauline’s family she had such a warm genuine heart that made anyone in her presence feel special. She was always so warm and inviting to be around. I can’t convey my sorrow enough. Though I could not be there in person, I am sending my love, thoughts, prayers, and healing energy.❤

I’m so very sorry for your loss. I loved her as a sister even though I didn’t get to see her much in the past several years.
We shared the pride of our children being in a local band together. We were even known to start a mosh pit or two.
Her loss will be felt by many.
May the best things come for her beloved children and their families.
Love, Hugs and better days ahead for Trini and her family, for Dominique and his, and for Mike who loved her from the moment he laid eyes on her.

We’ll see you in heaven Pauline! God has your back. Gurl you belonged in LA. At Zeke’s party you wanted to come with me to LA. I believe you and my brother Victor Medina belonged to each other forever! You and he were the parents if Dominic Medina and Victoria and Trini. You’ll be in heaven.

It hurts an entire community when someone so precious such as Pauline Nuanez (Jones), is taken in such a short time! This is truly a special person to me and I could not go to say my goodbyes because of other people’s negativity, but you cannot take away my beautiful memories I have and will forever have with Pauline ! <3€3
She did not have a judgemental bone in her body and she was truly a blessing to have known her! I love you Pauline and I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to say my goodbyes but Maybe it was for a reason! Probably because it isn't goodbye, as it is "see you again soon"! I know she is watching out for each and everyone of us especially her family, because family meant everything to her! She taught me a lot and I will hold your memory dearest to my heart-!!
Forever missed but never forgotten!! May you Rest-In-Peace, Sweet Angel!
Love Always,
Michelle Scott (sister-in-law (as she called me) girlfriend of 5 years to her brother, Alfonso Nuanez Jr)
