Phillips, Joseph Patrick passed away after a short illness on February 19, 2009. Joseph, age 25, was born on February 16, 1984 in Scottsdale. He was a lifelong Arizona resident, loving its majestic mountains, cooling lakes and mountain streams, especially those in Greer. Joe touched those he knew as a kind and caring person, always there to lend a hand and be a friend to the underdog. The simple things in life meant everything to Joe – an afternoon fishing, swinging a golf club or a Sunday barbeque. Most important in Joe’s life though was his beloved fiancée Amber Renee Nusall, with whom he shared a mutual devotion for the last five years. While Joe’s life was short and ended abruptly, spiritually he left this world with a rich and full heart due to Amber’s love and devotion to him, and his to her. Joe is survived by Amber, who he was to marry on February 29, 2009, his father Craig, mother Melanie, brother Adam, and sister Sarah. He is also survived by his stepmother Gail, father and mother-in-law in spirit Mark and Susan, stepsisters Alexa and Danielle, and Tabitha, his friend and twin sister of Amber. Joe also leaves behind other family and friends too numerous to count. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 6:00 P.M., at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix. Joseph’s funeral with be held on Thursday, February 26 at 10:00 A.M. at Madison Baptist Church, 6202 N. 12th St., Phoenix. Joe will be laid to rest immediately following the funeral at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St., Phoenix. Joe and Amber loved children and planned to have four of their own. They ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Joe’s memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 29119, Phoenix, AZ 85038-9119 or www.wish.org.
