Charles Kakadeles

Charles (Stratie) Kakadeles, 63, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona. Born at Luke Air Force Base in Goodyear Arizona to parents William and Helen Kakadeles, his father passed away at a young age and Stratie was then raised by his stepfather Alex Fernandez and mother Helen. He attended Balsz school and graduated from East High School in the class of 1973. He worked for Marie Callenders’ on Thomas Road where he made friends of his lifetime and what became the place that shaped Stratie’s future. Having always been a free spirit with a mind of his own, he discovered his many talents that included restaurant equipment repair. He later went to work for Red Devil restaurant and then began his own business and had many clients at restaurants in the valley. He enjoyed judo and karate as a child. As an adult he loved camping and fishing at Woods Canyon Lake, and had fun in the desert with dune buggies, motorcycles and he then took up scuba diving. Stratie was a history buff, he knew the bible well, loved talk radio and he was a perfectionist at work. He loved his many dogs and nurtured his favorite dog Spike. Stratie was kind and generous and was loved by all that had a chance to know him. He always offered a helping hand and will be remembered for his generosity to others and his friendly wave from his car. Stratie was a loving son to his mother Helen Fernandez and loving brother to Nick and Greg and many other loving family members in Mytiline Greece and Adelaide Australia.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. with Trisagion Service at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday February 22, 2018 at Whitney and Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road Phoenix. RIP Strati,

W knew each other in school, I’m sorry we lost touch after graduation. Always sad to see a classmate leave us behind. The class of 73 will have a great reunion in the future, but till then, you’re home.

Being one of those friends who worked with Stratie at Marie Callender’s and odd jobs over the years, he was always good to work with, clever with his tools and enjoyed a good laugh. Above all he was always quick to help out in time of need.

Condolence from Dee Dee Myers on February 21st, 2018 1:21 pm

My deepest condolences to his family and may God Bless.
I remember Stratie as a kind friend in my childhood days who was always there with a smile. Always with a joke and time to play with others at Balsz Elementary. As children we had the greatest of times doing the things kids do. Lost touch once we entered East High but will always remember the fond memories of growing up in the 60’s. RIP my friend.

Stratie always had a great attitude and smile on his face. We played football, basketball and track together at Balsz School. He was a great athlete, competitor and the best team mate anyone could have. We had a great time raising hell in the neighborhood and the Crosscut canal. Fun times I will always cherish.

RIP Stratie

Condolence from Eliseo A. Rivero on March 8th, 2018 5:21 pm

So sorry for your loss. I had known Stratie for about 30 years. We first met while I was working for Big4 Restaurants back in the late 80’s. Since then I had always used his services wherever I worked including my home. I considered him a friend and was shocked to hear he passed. We will miss him greatly.

Thank you Stratie, you were and still are an awesome guy! Love you Eliseo

Condolence from Peter Ramirez on August 7th, 2019 10:55 pm

Stratie and family,
I worked with him at Marie Callender’s restaurant also, around 1979-1982. Probably one of my biggest mistakes was leaving it! Stratie was fun to be around. Thanks to Greg Fernandez for showing up on my FB feed and posting about this. Since Stratie knew the Bible, I assume he knows its Author! God bless
