Elaine, 84, peacefully passed away and began her journey to be with God on December 27, 2020, with love and family surrounding her.
Elaine’s steadfast love for the Lord was felt by all that knew her. She was always the first to pray and light a candle for those in need. She was kind, caring, generous, and loved the life she lived. “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain. When you get the choice to sit it out or dance. I hope you dance.” She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Bill. Their love for each other was inspiring and everlasting, and true love stories never have an ending.
Elaine is survived by her six beautiful children, Bill Jr. (Marsi), Brian (Gloria), Chris (Mindy), Garret, Maura Balda (Mark), and Melissa Ferris. Elaine’s greatest joy in life were her children and eight grandchildren (Erin, Dylan, Peyton, Alexis, Garret, Connor, Colter and Cole). Viewing and funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 8 at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament (11300 N 64th St, Scottsdale, AZ 85254). A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at her home (3037 East Lupine Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85028). Elaine will be laid to rest with the love of her life at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on January 11 (23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix). In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Crosier Community (717 E Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85040).

Elaine will be missed by our entire family, and even though we have not been as close the last couple years as we were in the past, our memories of Elaine and Bill are fresh in our minds. What a wonderful couple and family, children and grandchildren. We will always remember her fondly, and send our heartfelt condolences to the entire Karl family.

Elaine was a bright light to this world and she will be greatly missed. Growing up a few houses away from the Karls on Lupine Ave. and Maura being one of my best friends, I have such fond memories of Elaine and Bill, who were always kind and loving and seemed to do everything together. It was always evident how much Elaine loved her family and I am blessed to have known her. My love goes out to the family.

Bill, Melissa and the entire Karl family, my thoughts and daily prayers are with you all. Your mother was a beautiful, precious child of God and faithful sister of Jesus. She is in the presence of their Glory and surrounded by their light. May your sweet memories sustain you in these difficult days and know that one day your tears will be of joy of her spirit instead of tears of sorrow of your loss. She was a beautiful, classy woman filled with love of her family. I am glad that my parents were able to spend time with yours, my parents enjoyed their time together. I will forever cherish my memories, spending time with you all in Scottsdale. My heart is heavy for your loss. peace and love, Rudy. ❤️❤️

I will always remember Elaine with such fondness. She loved to dance. And was a very good dancer to prove it. I met Elaine at Fat Cat well over a decade ago when I was a new instructor. She returned to classes at PVCC and lit up when the music started. She truly lived her comment about dancing. I am so sorry for your loss. Besides my knowing her as a member of my class, I can see by the comments and her life story that she was truly a beautiful soul and graced those who came into her life. I felt that way every time I saw her walk on to the dance floor. Wishing you comfort and peace.
